The Crankshaft Grinding

Crankshaft is the heart of any internal combustion engine. It is the chunk of metal that spins at a very high rate in order to move the piston up and down. Crankshaft is one of the strongest or toughest components in an engine. You would feel the need to repair or replace all the other components present before the crank disintegrates. As it is a big chunk of metal utmost care needs to be taken to use it. If it is handled in an improper way, chances are that it may destroy the engine internally.
The crankshaft grinding is a very straight forward process. The main journals can be grounded by placing the crankshaft nose into the head stock chuck. The machine is then set to an appropriate stroke and counter weights are set after which the rod journals are grounded. The crankshaft is reversed in the machine for reverse rotation marine applications that helps in better finish for reverse rotation motors.
