Lister Blackstone Marine Engines

The Lister Blackstone marine engines are mostly diesels and that too air cooled diesels. Preference is given to diesel engines in most of the commercial applications as they provide superior longevity and creates torque and greater horsepower at lower rpms and temperatures.

Lister Blackstone marine engines vary from as little as 8.5 hp to as high as 1520 hp. The larger ships contain multiple engines for better performance. Earlier, most of the lines were traditional vertical engines and then the company designed “M” class of engine in the year 1939. It was a horizontal, low engine and ranged from four-cylinder, 200-hp model to a 16-cylinder 1,520-hp engine. The “P” engine was the first major innovation and has a stroke and bore of 7 1/4 by 9 1/2 inches and it produced 26 hp at 700 rpm. After this, the company introduced "JP" line, which has a stroke and bore of 5 by 7 1/2 inches. This engine produced 16 hp at 800 rpm.

The Lister Blackstone marine engines are extensively used throughout the military branches. These are used primarily for non-marine applications and powers military installations.
